Hi.

SOOOOOO.

At first it was the crappy router, and then it was the subzero temperatures (the "computer room" doesn't have proper insulation or heating), and then it was just apathy. And part of it is neurotic fiddle-faddle which you do not care to hear but which leads me to avoid the internet. I'm not a social person and I like to run away and I often have so many ideas for amazing things I'd love to do but can hardly be arsed to follow through on because of some crazy personality flaw I can't quite pinpoint.

I was barely playing the game to begin with and I haven't even booted up the damn thing at all since the new year. I don't have the urge to do anything sims related really, though shiny pictures from the people I admire do leave me feeling rather wistful. I even managed to nab up a bunch of webspace and was going to go about making a real website, but that ambition quickly fizzled. I'll try to find (or cobble together) a single website to put up all the stuff I've made, so it's easier to peruse through than livejournal. Suggestions are welcome, website-building related or otherwise. MTS2 is not an option, no.

This is a rather wishy-washy apology for being so absent, but I am sorry. If you have a WCIF that I have not yet responded to, ask here. If you have any questions, ask here. If you sent me some message on some website and it is MOST DIRE that I read it, remind me here. If you decide you don't want to be LJ buds anymore, it's okay. If you want to be RL LJ buddies, ask here, but there are no guarantees as Phobia =/= Me in real life and I won't talk about Sims 2 things and hardly ever update but it will probably be the only real way I'll keep up with anyone's shenanigans. Long sentences.

Yay Christmas! So I participated in the GoS Secret Santa exchange and it was a lot of fun. Lots of people received many wonderful presents which I am coveting from afar, hands clasped in pained envy. The present I made was for simperfect. My present from Steerpike/rage_rage was one of the really sweet Asian Fusion outfits from the Sims 2 store with boots, as boots make everything better. Everything. I have retexturing plans, oh yes (can there be retexturing plans, Anna?). So I decided to take a few minutes to boot up my game in the midst of waiting for cakes to cool and snap some screenshots. One sim is Pepper Tremaine's uh... granddaughter or daughter, I can't quite remember anymore and the extremely cute alien is xel_squirgle_ox's Amy who is the daughter of her Bunker and my Fritz. rage_rage is going to be sharing the outfit over on GoS maybeprobablyIsuspect because that's the righteous thing to do, man.

Things that are awesome right now:

simgaroop's Advent Calender. Seriously. GO LOOK. She's retextured and recolored tons of my favorite hair meshes. I'm swimming in a sea of delight, it makes me feel all tingly.

AweSims has really really excellent recolors (quite a few of them of Maxis meshes) and some wonderful wallpaper and floors. Some LJ people might not have come across this site yet, so I encourage you to check it out.

sixtylilies makes an assortment of lovely things on her livejournal including enticing Nouked hair retextures, clothing, and sweet recolors. Please go harass her with affection, for she is most deserving.

smjoshsims put Easy/Lucky/Free on the Maxis sclera which is so many flavors of fantastic. Sim animations are so wacky and gappy black bits of doom are not so wacky. Be sure to grab the contacts by showercapfrog too, if you're interested, they're at the bottom of the entry.

I have my own proper webhosting now which means sometime soon I won't have to rely on Photobucket for image hosting and box.net and mediafire for file hosting. Huzzah! Now to teach myself Dreamweaver.

Things that are not so awesome:

My router is on its last flailing arthritic limb which means my connection to the internet is sporadic at best. I usually can't stay on for more than 15 minutes at a time. I don't quite know when the situation will right itself but hopefully soon.

I'm still busy in real life and facing the arrival of my annual bout of the doldrums which strike me every January through late February. Combined with the fritzy router means I spend most of my free time elbow deep in flour, yarn, paint, or idling about in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Be well and hope you all have a happy holiday!

PS - All complaints about my pseudo e-popularity can be directed to katu or expressed in some delightfully rendered simsecret featuring my metaphorical head on a pike and the words "GTFO" flashing in spasm-inducing neon red and yellow. Well, I did say Tuesday and here it is, two minutes past midnight. Once again, here are 30 recolors of Sarhra's eyes, 21 "normal" eyes and 9 fantasy-esque eyes. Just like last time, there's a regular custom set, a geneticized townie-friendly set (wherein darker colors are dominant and lighter colors are recessive), and different defaults for you to pick and choose. If you're looking for defaults of the original set, check these out by engram_au. If you're looking for defaults and other recolors check out this set by inkbottleblue. If you want my first set of recolors, here's Easy/Lucky/Free Part One with supernatural defaults here. If you want my recolors with a different, more animation-friendly sclera, check out these edits by without_pith.

I've included alien defaults, genie defaults for you to sort through, bigfoot defaults for you to sort through, a new Maxis vampire default, a vampire default using Mouseyblue's Polyster Bride skintone as was requested, AND a set of contacts for ALL the recolors I've done, 60 in total. You can only have one set of defaults at a time and only one default of any given color. This means one light blue, one dark blue, one green, one vampire, one bigfoot, etc. The normal eye colors are named after Bright Eyes songs and the alien eyes are named after Conor Oberst songs. Everything is compressorized for your convenience, previews are included, and all files are clearly labeled. There are so so many pictures ahead, I should be ashamed. Except I'm not. Thank you Sarhra for making some pretty sweet eyes and changing your policy, Mouseyblue for making a pretty sweet skintone and letting me massacre it, and everyone who gave me input on these recolors. You guys rock my socks.

Today was "Phobia's Body Hates Her Day" seeing as I had a splitting eyeache, a stomachache, had no sleep, and developed a very unpretty allergic reaction to the cleaning products I used to clean MOUSE POO from my oven. Today was bollocks. Anyway, ha ha neon hair ha ha! The meshes are not included, previews are included, files are compressorized. Nouk hairs work for all ages and the Seomi hair works for child to elder. Someone requested paler recolors of Kiki's PhasMaxian skintones and OH HEY I already did that but never released it as it was kind of a sloppy job on my part. I also just installed Mansions & Gardens and I don't have a custom camera, lighting, or any hacks (pose or otherwise) so enjoy these incredibly mediocre and very minimally edited preview pictures. All sims are wearing zero makeup aside from eyelashes (more evidence as to how much I rely on the stuff) and there's a geneticized+townified set and a custom set available for download. The handsome swarthy fellow with the black underoos is Keely's Buster. Pale 01 is from the swatch I was provided and Pale 02 is the original pale recolor I made for myself. The Very Dark skintone taught me exactly why no one ever makes really dark skintones. These are like just Kiki's originals--all Barbie (I can't be arsed to care about nipples), Maxis bodies, and edited faces with a bit of Louis/Simcribbling. An enormous, huge, tremendous, gargantuan, elephantine, rubenesque thank you to Kiki for letting me share these recolors. Please check out the originals at Phasmatic Sims! Someday I'll try to do clothing again. Anyway, Corinne (who is also lipmusic) is all kinds of sweet asked Kielen to extract the Seasons Rockstar mesh that I used to make Smart Went Crazy so that now you can have the outfits even if all you have is the basegame! She was kind enough to even recolor her mesh with my recolors, so if you always wanted those outfits but didn't have Seasons or Apartment Life, follow the previous link to download them, or if you're feeling especially lazy download them here. Thank you Corinne and Kielen for being amazing!

For those of you who were wondering, I plan on releasing Easy/Lucky/Free Part Two before Wednesday of next week. It will include 21 new "normal" eye recolors including 3 defaults of each color, 9 alien eyes, alien defaults, bigfoot defaults, genie defaults, two new vampire defaults (one Maxis and one featuring one of Mouseyblue's skintones), and a set of contacts for all 60 recolors. strange_tomato, this is the blue I came up with which looks strangely light in that picture, but I assure you it isn't. If it isn't right then at some point after I come back I'll make something 'specially for you. I'll stop spamming your friends pages now! Fritz is the offspring of LL30's Harper Bradley and one of my sims, Deirdre Strange. Originally she started out as a boy, but I never make things for boys, so she mostly lives in my game as a girl. Fritz is delightfully androgynous (at least in thought and deed), wants to become a Space Pirate by any means necessary, spends an inordinate amount of time using the telescope, and enjoys listening to New Wave music and dyeing her hair. She comes packaged with Maxis hair and clothes, though if you want the hair she has here, check out Aelia's recolors of Yuxi's Maxis M2F Seasons Caesar conversion. I also usually have her in a paler recolor of Kiki's PhasMaxian S1 that I made for personal use but she comes linked to whatever S1 default you've got as well as with her default alien eyes as when she was "born". She breeds really well and looks excellent as a boy, as seen here, here, and here. Do whatever you like with her, turn her back into Boy!Fritz (who has terrible fashion sense, by the way), age her down, make her a zombie, whatever, just don't claim her as your own, or upload her anywhere. Big thank yous to Keely for Harper Bradley and ChihoSan for making him one of my Pollination Technicians. More pictures of Fritz are scattered throughout the LJ of course.

I've mostly finished everything that's going to be uploaded before the trip. Fritz should be up sometime later tonight (as a guy or a girl, which do you prefer?), after I make some chili and clean a little bit. I never thought I'd be one of those people who's crazy busy during the holiday season but I am. Here's a retexture of XMSims 87, with textures by chokelate and alpha-edit by Earthdragon at MTS2 because I really dig those wacky asymmetrical bangs. Mesh is included in the set of naturals but not in the neons, previews are included, naturals are family-binned and linked with elder grey in the black recolor file, and all files are compressorized. I'm trying to remember exactly who I'm supposed to be responding to and about what, so I'm sorry if my replies are extremely delayed and/or scattered over the next week. I have about 4 dozen empanadas to prepare, tons of previews to make, a couple more recolors to do, an entire house to clean, new winter wear to buy, and a test to take all before Tuesday so I'm losing my mind.

Charlie! Chahlie. You ever watch All Dogs Go To Heaven? Best pronunciations of Charlie ever. Charlie is an optimistic sort of gal, prone to watching the cooking channel at all hours of the day, culinary delights and disasters, and puttering around in her garden. In my game, she's a airquotes plantsim /airquotes, a vegetarian (slash cannibal?), and doesn't smustle but dances solo. She comes packaged with Maxis clothing and hair. Buyer beware, her eyes are geneticized and townified, so be sure to install her using CleanInstaller. If you want the hairstyle she sports in my game, check out Miki's great Juice retexture. She looks awesome as a guy, as seen here, here, and here. She breeds pretty well and makes especially handsome looking boys, though good luck trying to breed out that nose and that chin. That's what I love about Charlie. Very normal looking head on but she's got that crazy chin and that strong nose with a slight bump in the middle. More pictures of her are scattered throughout my LJ. Do what you like with her just don't claim her as your own or upload her anywhere. I'd cry.

Depending on the mesh and the resolution of the textures, Neena's textures can look really really smooth and silky, which is what happened here. So even if you may not care for Maxis match hair per say, you might still like this. I retextured Nouk's Side Braid with chokelate's textures, obviously, because the original was too shiny for my tastes even when I did have nothing but Nouked hair in my game. I also alpha-edited the extra long strands near the front because those sorts of things bother me unduly. Mesh and preview are included, works for all ages, files are compressorized, family-binned, and linked, elder grey is in the black recolor file. Thank you to Nouk for making a fantastic ~*~free~*~ hairstyle and Neena for her textures. I will catch up with comments and what not over the next couple of days. The immediate stuff on my plate is uploading Charlie and Fritz, that batch of neon hair recolors I've been promising forever, and finishing Easy/Lucky/Free Part 2. After that I'll be taking a much needed vacation. Feel free to hang me for using Decorgal's ubiquitous pose box, but I'm tired and sneezy.

Welp, chiho924 asked me to take a stab at retexturing this Peggy hair. I quite like the hairstyle, but I had to remove the child and toddler ages because frankly they look terrible. Unrealistic for toddlers and the mesh sits incredibly high on girl's heads. Also, the teen mesh is gappy as hell, but I included it just in case any of you are sitting on a fixed mesh because aside from the gaps it'd be all right. I retextured the hair clips too, some of them using textures from Squidfingers. Hair textures are by chokelate as per usual because why fix what ain't broken? I also alpha-edited the hair so that it isn't so stringy and removed the weird tufts from the forehead. Mesh and preview are included, files are compressorized, family-binned, and linked. Unnecessary ages are removed and the elder grey is linked to the black recolor file. Enjoy enjoy enjoy.

I canceled the automatic payments on my LJ account because LJ is full of fecal matter. I'll probably have to change my layout (again) and all my icons once it expires because visual OCD is terrible. Does anyone actually use the tags? Just asking as I've been having a time trying to find sidebar-friendly CSS that I actually like. I do have a wordpress blog which I originally meant to be a little more sparse and more visually oriented as opposed to here where I have the tendency to ramble unnecessarily. The only deal is that Wordpress isn't very social. But then again, I'm not very social!

Below are previews of some of the Sarhra recolors I've done so far; twenty in total with at least two new defaults for brown (including a warmer dark brown based on "Tereza And Thomas"), green (including a darker deeper green based on "Arienette"), grey, light blue, and dark blue, new vampire-red eyes, and five alienish fantasy eyes because people asked for them and I thought they might be interesting.

I might do a few more, I'm not sure. The inherent nature of Sarhra's eyes makes them hard to fiddle with without making them a) into something that is completely different and unlike Sarhra's eyes at all and b) muddy. They're also not high-res which is limiting. Excuses, excuses. Sorry, I stayed up till five this morning in some sort of mad fit recoloring eyes because sleep is an unkind mistress and now I'm a Grumpy Gus.

Work, work, work, wok. Wakka wakka. Everyone still got a buzz from last night despite California utterly cocking up the collective good mood of our otherwise despairingly cynical nation? Good! I've been tackling a few more retextures and stockpiling a somewhat disconcerting list of things to neonize. I realize not everyone actually uses neon hair all the bloody time, but frankly I do, plus rainbow legacies are good fun. So eventually that will happen in a big fat post which will break the minds of those of you on dial-up because I refuse to use any image format besides .png and won't apologize for it.

Nouk made a lovely side braid but I never really cared for it even when I had Nouk hair e'erywhere because it was too shiny. So yeah. I hit it with the Neena Stick®. It came out quite unlike any of my other retextures, looking much finer and smoother than normal, so even if you don't dig Maxis match hair straight up, you may like it. I also alpha-edited those dinky little strands out as dinky little strands bother me loads.

Been working on those Sarhra eye recolors. Mostly less saturated versions of other colors, warmer shades, blah blah. I'm not quite happy with this new version of "True Blue", looks too flat, so I may do that one over from scratch, but everything else is coming along nicely. Hit me with color suggestions should you have any. I only want to make about ten to fifteen new colors maybe plus a set of contacts for the entire Easy/Lucky/Free thing. Keep in mind Fritz is wearing Anva's sclera mask. Also, that's what entirely unedited Bodyshop pictures look like for me. Today is a lazy day.

I'm totally retexturing this hair, crazy high polycount be damned. I've always wanted short hair like that. I normally don't care for Peggy hair because all the extra wispy bits of hair everywhere drive me up the wall (see above), but that is just too too lovely. Will upload Charlie tomorrow maybe and Fritz maybe soon.

ETA: By the way, if you're working on adding a different sclera to any of the Easy/Lucky/Free recolors and want my zipped up original .bmp files let me know!

ETA2: Disregard the dark brown recolor above. I made a new one based on "Tereza and Tomas" rather than "From a Balance Beam" and it looks much better.

Somebody requested a retexture of this XMSims hairstyle on GoS awhile back so naturally I ignored what everyone else wanted (Nouk!) and did what I wanted (Neena!). XMSims 70 for men, retextured with chokelate's textures. Works for all ages except elder (sorry elders), mesh and preview are included, files are compressorized, and everything's family-binned all nice and tidy. I realize including the mesh is against XMSims policy but fuck it. I alpha-edited the back so that it wouldn't be so long (it was cutting into a lot of collars) and the bangs a bit. The house in the previews is by An_na. I've been somewhat preoccupied so I apologize for a lack of commenting on my part. This month and the next are going to be hectic as hell.

This is one of the first hairstyles I retextured, so I'm sorry if it's a bit rough. Seomi's "Wind" hairstyle for men, the alpha edit being based on the one by Wycked at MTS2. I changed the front bangs and side pieces quite a bit, but left the back much the same. The mesh and a preview are included, files are compressorized, files are family-binned and linked, unnecessary ages are removed, elder grey is in the black recolor file, and it works for child to elder. As a warning though, for some reason my recolor files for this mesh are pretty big. I have no idea why. An enormous thank you to aikea_guinea for fixing the gaps in the original mesh! Also a thank you to chokelate as usual for her textures and Wycked for the shaved scalp texture.

So I actually worked on the story today and finished that silly computer punch card recolor. I guess I just wanted to avoid having to make all the little holes, I don't know. It looks pretty good to me, so I might actually start taking pictures tonight. Also, in case anyone was curious, I'm not using my Maxis match CC for the story. I can see the look of utter surprise on all your faces. Gasp! It just doesn't make any sense for me to do so, since this story isn't the Sims 2. Plus, I need an excuse to use all that wonderful Nouked hair sixtylilies constantly taunts me with. So I had a bit of a genetics test shoot today to see what I'm going to use in the end. Below are pictures of dear Lucille with non-Maxisish CC! As both a man AND as a girl! She makes a pretty fine looking gentleman, I must say, if a bit soft. Oh yeah, and that damn punchcard. I've been meaning to make a brief tutorial outlining how I edit screenshots as I really don't do much. At least not in my mind. If there are outtake type shots I suppose I'll do it with those as examples.

I was originally going to go with some bizarre housewife theme for this set of preview pictures but I couldn't get a proper set of glasses to cooperate so I went for subtle steampunk instead, sans goggles. I know that some people feel squicky about this mesh but I like pinned back bangs (pomps!) and pigtails so that's too damn bad. I tried some alpha-editing magic but egad, gaps. Some clothing clips through the actual tails, naturally, as they lie close to the chest. Raon 37 for ladies, all ages, mesh and preview included, files are compressorized, elder grey is in the black recolor file, family linked and binned, polycount is 2402 so yay for those of you with less than stellar computers and a taste for Maxis matchish textures courtesy of Ninika/chokelate. A late night update from me as my sleep schedule is completely screwed. This is the last couple of natural retextures for awhile, then I might churn out some alternative recolors or focus on something that isn't hair. Or maybe take a break. Who knows. I've tried retexturing quite a few of Nouk's meshes but this is the only one that came out well, so here's Nouk's Rockabilly hair from a former WNF Aspiration set. It's been retextured with chokelate's yummy textures as per usual, mesh and preview pic are included, files are compressorized, family linked and binned, elder grey is in the black recolor file, works for all ages! This is one of my favorite hairstyles so I tried a couple more colors than usual. And yes, I have a thing for pointy-eared sims.

We live in a magical world where sim puke can now actually look like real puke, for those of you who either desire that extra touch of realism and/or write stories about college parties and all-night binges. Exciting things are happening or might be happening which is nice because however cavalier I may be about things like the Sims or the internet it's nice to have projects and better if those projects involve your friends. For no reason here are some spam-y type pictures of the citizens of Happy Valley, my test 'hood which I use to make previews and ensure that things that look slightly crummy in Bodyshop look less crummy in-game. Everyone lives in trailers and there are a zillion clones running about, but it's still kind of fun.

I'm working on stuff! I am, I swear I am. Including some more recolors of Sarhra's eyes, so I repeat: if there are any colors you'd like to see or changes you want made to colors I've already done, please please let me know! I plan on doing a middling dark brown-black, a warmer dark brown, a less saturated True Blue, a few more dark blues, and maybe some more double colors. Also, for those of you who didn't like the shaded sclera on Sarhra's eyes (and I can't blame you) without_pith has made some pretty sweet edits of Easy/Lucky/Free with the sclera from Anva's Legacy Eyes so now they're more animation friendly!

I'm also working on stuff for gaslampherald, including some steampunk-y recolors of a few Maxis meshes and objects. I finally opened SimPE after months and months and am trying to recolor aikea_guinea's paper mesh in order to have some grungy looking computer punch cards.

Lastly, more natural hair recolors. I've been trying to slap chokelate's textures on Nouk's meshes but it's somewhat hard unless I actually just hand-paint some textures myself. I did manage something decent out of Nouk's Rockabilly hair. That in addition to a couple Raon hairs will complete my "Maxisize All My Hair CC" project as far as naturals are concerned.

Whatever happened to all my object recolors? I don't know! SimPE is cumbersome to work with. I'll get back to it, I promise. In the meanwhile, the latest step in me retexturing all the hair meshes I have with chokelate's textures because they're Maxisish and smooth and lovely. I also alpha-edited some bits to be less wispy, as that always bothers me. Raon's 059 for girls, in natural colors, neons forthcoming. simpoly says the poly count is 5877, so those of you on slower machines may wanna pass. As usual, mesh and preview pic is included, works for all ages, family binned and linked with the elder grey in the black recolor file, files are compressorized because I'm really a big softie at heart. Also, isn't Lucille awesome?! Man, I love her and aikea_guinea for making all my sim fashion fantasies come true via a plethora of sweater vests and cardigans.

I'd been meaning to upload this for awhile and was waiting to finish the neons but I figure I'll just release one big fat post of multiple neons later and give you the naturals for now instead. Helga 096, a cute pixie cut with some slight fivehead retextured with chokelate/Neena_Needles/Ninika's textures. A hearty thank you to Neena for being cool about her lovely hair textures. I recolored them a tad in order to have some more shade options because one of each was getting somewhat boring. Thanks to Helga for making decent free hair. The usual dribble-- mesh and preview is included, files are clearly labeled and compressorized, binned and family linked, available for teen to elder, grey is in the black file. My to-do list is getting stupid long, but I'm going to try and at least get a few things done a week. I can't use my regular PC as often right now because it's the only one that can play Warhammer Online and my boyfriend is semi-addicted. If there's anything you see that you want to kick me in the pants about, just say so.
