Hi.

SOOOOOO.

At first it was the crappy router, and then it was the subzero temperatures (the "computer room" doesn't have proper insulation or heating), and then it was just apathy. And part of it is neurotic fiddle-faddle which you do not care to hear but which leads me to avoid the internet. I'm not a social person and I like to run away and I often have so many ideas for amazing things I'd love to do but can hardly be arsed to follow through on because of some crazy personality flaw I can't quite pinpoint.

I was barely playing the game to begin with and I haven't even booted up the damn thing at all since the new year. I don't have the urge to do anything sims related really, though shiny pictures from the people I admire do leave me feeling rather wistful. I even managed to nab up a bunch of webspace and was going to go about making a real website, but that ambition quickly fizzled. I'll try to find (or cobble together) a single website to put up all the stuff I've made, so it's easier to peruse through than livejournal. Suggestions are welcome, website-building related or otherwise. MTS2 is not an option, no.

This is a rather wishy-washy apology for being so absent, but I am sorry. If you have a WCIF that I have not yet responded to, ask here. If you have any questions, ask here. If you sent me some message on some website and it is MOST DIRE that I read it, remind me here. If you decide you don't want to be LJ buds anymore, it's okay. If you want to be RL LJ buddies, ask here, but there are no guarantees as Phobia =/= Me in real life and I won't talk about Sims 2 things and hardly ever update but it will probably be the only real way I'll keep up with anyone's shenanigans. Long sentences.

If I see you soon, then yay! If I don't, then I enjoyed getting to know everyone I got to know. :)

TL;DR VERSION: I won't be around. I may come back, make some CC again, I may not. Who knows. Leave a message if you need to.

Your last post here kind of reminds me of my last one, except that I'm not disappearing forever.

Anyway whatever you get up to have fun, stay safe and hopefully we'll see you around these parts again. Your wonderful creations and great screenshots will be greatly missed!

I haven't done much Sim wise lately either, I am pregnant and I am too exhausted to play most of the time these days. You will be missed. Feel free to keep an eye on my LJ as it doesn't always have Sims stuff on there.

Thanks, Corinne! I unfortunately tend to distract myself from things I need to be doing (finding employment, going to school, learning to sew) with things that are easy and fun to get lost in (Sims, MMOs, the internet). I have a hard time striking a proper balance.

Anyway, yes, see you sometime in the future, hopefully, possibly, maybe, perhaps.

You mentioned before that this time of year is always difficult for you anyway, so I hope that this passes soon and that you manage to go back to your inspiration and awesomeness.

I flip-flopped back and forth on whether to actually say anything. Neurosis dictates that I flailed over coming across as arrogant by making a "goodbye post" rather than simply vanishing quietly as is my usual M.O. and I flailed over vanishing quietly because I didn't want people to ask where I'd gone only to think me a rude bitch for ignoring their queries. And then of course I flailed over the perceived egotism behind thinking anyone would miss me at all! It's funnier than it sounds...

Aw, just as soon as I hop back into the community and discover you, you're on your way out. I totally understand where you've coming from, though, since there's been a year or so breaks in which I haven't even thought about TS2, but suddenly get the urge to play and become obsessed all over again. I'd be nice if you came back to create more content someday, but if not, have fun with whatever you're doing. ♥

I know what you mean, I've gotten the same way about MMOs. I played FFXI for almost three years, disappeared for a year to do other things, than suddenly felt nostalgic and tried to come back to it. I don't really know if I feel the same way about the Sims 2 but who knows. Thank you, however. :)

I too wanted to thank you so very much for all your wonderful CC and I have to say that you are among the simmers who have given me a newfound love of Maxis genetics. I know what you mean about having great ideas but not following through - I do that all the time myself so I understand.

I think sometimes, you love a hobby to death but then, that love fizzles out eventually or you just don't "feel" like doing it anymore. It's a part of human nature and there's no obligation on your end certainly to continue something that you either have no interest in or is not fun anymore.

Whatever you decide to move on to, the best of luck to you.

Thank you! It made me really happy for a long while to make CC for people to use, but as I made more and more of it, I stopped actually playing the game and got completely neurotic about silly things like the uniformity of my Downloads folder, the status of the community, whether I was part of the "in crowd" in groups in friends I wanted to know better, a more permanent home for my downloads as opposed to the cluttered impermanence of Livejournal, etc. I stopped having fun right about then.

Who knows really what I'll do in the future with regards to my main hobby, because whatever it is, I tend to get neurotic about it. In any case, thank you again.

I'm just glad you're okay. I was starting to worry and thinking I should ask around to see if anyone knew if you were still alive or not.

I will indeed miss your creations - you are the person whose work convinced me that Maxis match did not have to suck - but I will also miss your posts and comments about things unrelated to Sims.

If you are interested, I'm oiran @ LJ, nixy @ Inksome, and not really posting on either right now, but theoretically they are active journals when some combination of fatalism, nihilism, misanthropy and laziness aren't giving a beat down to my puny social urges.

I have you added as oiran on the RL Livejournal, though admittedly I'm somewhat of a wash when it comes to updating there as well. In any case, I'm really happy and grateful I met you, Nixy. I wish complicated things like the internet, spatial distance, and social awkwardness didn't prevent me from knowing you as well I'd like. Continue being the stalwart guardian of all that is fantastic, like opium pipes and Henry Darger.

Well, I'm sad to see you go, but I understand. Everyone moves on eventually.

You will be missed here. Your creations and photography were always inspiring, and I can't fully express how much I love your eyes. I am sure they will be my signature eyes until I also leave Sims 2 behind. I've had nothing but positive feedback on them so far. People love those eyes, and with good reason. They rock!

So, yeah... it has been wonderful to get to know you in the sims comm, but all good things must come to an end. ^_^ Good luck in all your future endeavors!

(This was sad enough, but you had to go and use Ripp!tears. :( Are you trying to break my heart?)

I'll miss you, [info]strange_tomato! You were so inspiring and wonderful in ways I can't express. I really love the enthusiasm and energy you bring to the "fandom" at large and will always be grateful for the way your stories changed the way I saw the game.

Also, I shouldn't mention how many screenshots I still have of Ripp making various faces, it's somewhat obscene. :X

Aww, I'm sorry to see you go. I always liked both your creations and the chill, sensible but funny tone you brought to GoS. I would love to friend you on LJ, but the truth is I don't read people's personal journals that much - the only part of my flist I regularly check is the Sims 2 filter, even though there are people on my flist that I genuinely do care about. So take care, and I hope we'll see you around again!
